Jim Carrill

Jim Carrillo, AICP, ASLA is a Vice President and Director of Planning for Halff Associates Inc.  Jim is originally from the Caribbean, where he grew up on the beaches of Belize, the Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico before coming to live in Texas.  A graduate of Texas A&M University, Jim is a registered Landscape Architect and a certified planner.  He has been involved in many city and regional efforts over his 23 year career, including downtown planning, corridor planning, development planning for large master planned communities, and urban designs for cities throughout Texas and in New Mexico and Oklahoma.   His recent work has focused on citywide and large scale open space, trails, park and recreation and urban design planning projects throughout the Southwest United States, and has been a long time advocate of the benefits of parks to our cities. 

His work has received multiple awards for design and planning excellence from the Texas Recreation and Parks Society, both the San Antonio and Central Texas Sections of the American Planning Association, the Texas Chapter of the American Planning Association, the Texas Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects, the Texas Downtown Association and the National Association of Recreation Resource Planners.  Most recently, his master plan for the Canyon Lake Gorge received a national Excellence in Planning Award from the National Association of Recreation Resource Planners.

Mr. Carrillo currently resides near San Marcos, and has been with Halff for almost 22 years. He works out of the Austin and San Antonio offices of Halff Associates.
